July 15 – 19 is National Disability Voter Registration Week. As an Autistic person who is registered to vote, I encourage my fellow disabled peers, adults age 18 and older, from all walks of life, in Rockland who are eligible to vote to go and register to vote.
This is a form you can print and fill out to register to vote:

Or, you can click on the online form here to register to vote:

It is important to register to vote because we need more people to speak up on issues that matter to us the most. The more people from the disability community can vote, the more our issues within the disability community can move forward for the changes we seek.
When you do vote in each election, don’t forget:
- All voting sites are accessible. If you don’t have an accessible voting site, then you can ask the Board of Elections to make it accessible so you can vote.
- If you are not available to vote, then you can still vote by an absentee ballot.
- Every voting site has accessible ballot marking systems. If you don’t have an accessible voting ballot system at your voting site, then you can ask the Board of Elections to make your site accessible to you.
- Access is important especially when voting.
So, make sure you are ready to vote for every election by registering to vote as a person with disability. The more of us who are registered, the more we can put people in power who will create access for all in the disability community.
